How is THC-P legal?

What is THC-P?

THC-P, or tetrahydrocannabiphorol, is a potent phytocannabinoid that is a CB1 and CB2 agonist. It was first known as a synthetic homologue of THC, but for the first time in 2019 was isolated as a natural product in trace amounts from Cannabis sativa. It is structurally similar to Δ9-THC, the main active component of cannabis, but with the pentyl side chain extended to heptyl. Since it has a longer side chain, its cannabinoid effects are “far higher than Δ9-THC itself.” Tetrahydrocannabiphorol has a reported binding affinity approximately 33 times that of Delta-9-THC.

THC-P is considered to be the strongest cannabinoid discovered yet to date. It is about 30 times more potent than THC, and its effects are said to be more intense and long-lasting. THC-P is also said to have a different psychoactive profile than THC, with some users reporting feelings of euphoria, relaxation, and creativity.

The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp, which is defined as cannabis with less than 0.3% THC by dry weight. THC-P is a naturally occurring compound in hemp, so it is legal under the Farm Bill.

Legality

It is important to note that the legality of THC-P may vary by state. Some states have banned all psychoactive hemp products, which could include THC-P. It is always best to check the local laws and regulations before purchasing THC-P. However, in Georgia where Hemp Haven is based, it is legal.

Something to keep in mind there is limited research on the safety and effects of THC-P. If you are considering using THC-P, it is important to weigh the risks and benefits carefully.

The legality of THC-P is likely to be further clarified in the future. As more research is conducted on THC-P and its effects, the federal government may issue guidance on its legality. States may also pass laws specifically addressing the legality of THC-P.

In the meantime, it is important to check the local laws and regulations before purchasing THC-P. It is also important to purchase from a reputable source to ensure that the product is safe and accurately labeled.
